¿Cuál es la diferencia entre las palabras "misionario" y "misionero"'

Gracias. I should've thought of looking at the RAE dictionary. Anyway, I guess either is good for my purposes.

looking at the two RAE definitions I would say in some contexts they are synonyms and in other the misionario may be more generica, and may not be religious in usage
