ir a + destination where the destination is a series
If we wish to say:
I am going to .. and then list a series of places, is it necessary or unnecessary to repeat the a for each item in the series.
I am going to the airport, the hotel, and then the office.
Voy al aeropuerto, al hotel y, entonces, a la oficina.
Voy al aeropuerto, el hotel y, entonces, la oficina.
I'm voting for repeating the a for each item in the series, but since someone asked me whether it was necessary, I thought I might inquire of native speakers or better grammarians.

or
"Voy al aeropuerto, después al hotel y después a la oficina"
or as you said:
"Voy al aeropuerto, al hotel y, entonces, a la oficina"
Sadly or not you have to repeat the a for each item.
How do you know? These two always confuse me.

Definitely "al hotel y a la oficina". The whole thing is a short for:
Voy al aeropuerto, voy al hotel, y entonces, voy a la oficina.
