Pretérito perfecto (past perfect) is "I had slept". Futuro perfecto (future perfect) is "I will have slept."

Sorry, but "pretérito perfecto" is "he dormido" (I have slept), and "pretérito anterior" is "hube dormido" (I had slept). If you use the Spanish terms for these tenses, use them right, and not as if they were translations from English; otherwise, stick to English terminology.

"Pretérito perfecto" (=present perfect) is used like the present perfect in Britain, more or less.

"Pretérito anterior" is not worth learning until you are practically fluent, because it is hardly used, except for some unusual cases in literature. You can use the "pretérito pluscuamperfecto" instead: "había dormido".

How can I vote this up about 10 times over? Perhaps you should write an reference article listing the Spanish names of the tenses, moods so we don't keep hearing these anglicized names for Spanish tenses. Then when someone uses the improper name we have - 0074b507, Aug 27, 2009
a reference article to point them towards. - 0074b507, Aug 27, 2009
Ok, but it is a bit chaotic. - lazarus1907, Aug 27, 2009
