I have heard that habitación is the more common word for room in Spain (rather than cuarto).

As far as I know, it would be unusual to use both recámara and dormitorio for rooms in the same house, since they are used in different geographical regions. For example, recámara is used in Mexico, and dormitorio in Spain.
