misionario vs. misionero

misionario means - someone on a mission

i asked my young technician
he immediately recognized the word
he said it meant "hunter"

however i would say misionario has a wider meaning
in the direction of vows and aspiration; it may be a regional usage
since i dont see it in the Porroa and University of Chicago dictionaries i have

misionario of course refers to someone beating the Old Testiment

Misionario y misionero son sinónimos. El primero usado para referirse en especial a lo militar. El segundo para lo religioso.
