Yeah. You'll notice I left room for doubt because I'm not exactly sure either. I can't put my finger on it, but something doesn't sound quite right about "medio". Hopefully a native speaker will chime in.

I don't know about the use of "medio" here. Personally, I think "mitad español y mitad filipino" sounds better. I wonder if there is a "correct" way of saying it or if it's a matter of preference.

Interesting that you say that, because I have always heard "medio." Well, actually, I have heard "hijo/hija de xxxes y xxxes," as I gave in parentheses, but I thought we needed to keep the "half blood" concept to preserve the humor of the mosquito sucking out half, which wouldn't really work with the "hijo" form.

"Medio-chino" gets 4090 googits, while "mitad-chino" gets 749. That doesn't prove anything, but it does show that medio is used this way. Maybe we should start a thread to ask about this. I'd be very interested, as my children are of mixed ancestry.

Por si quieres saber decirlo en español:De sangre soy medio español y medio filipino (soy hijo de españoles y filipinos), pero desafortunadamente el mosquito me pica y me chupa toda la sangre española, de manera que me queda nada más que la sangre filipina. ¡No te creas!Necesitas una transfusión. jeje

I must admit, I was wondering what was the question and whether to change the category. You James, have made the decision for me. Leave it as it is.

A mosquito with discriminating tastes! sucks being retained I wish I had a valid reason like that for not being able to write Spanish. However, the body regenerates it's blood every 48 hours so you shoud be back to writing Spanish (half 'ssed) in no time at all.
