Imperfect vs. Preterit
Hi, I'm confused on when to use each tense. I'm writing a paper about a trip I took. Would I use the preterit every time because all of the verbs happen within that time period? I'll attach a text file of what I have so far. Thanks for your help.

El año pasado, fui de vacaciones a México con mi amigo, Pedro. Tuvimos un gran tiempo. Había muchas cosas que hacer. Primero, fui al hotel. Estaba muy limpio y bonito. ¡Había un restaurante en el hotel y la comida era excelente! Tuve una enchilada y agua. Pedro tuvo dos tacos y un refresco. Había pollo, lechuga, y queso en mi enchilada. También, había arroz y maíz en el lado. En los tacos de Pedro, había pollo, lechuga, tomate, y queso. Pedro dijo los tacos eran delicioso.
Después comimos, decidimos hacer turismo. El primer lugar que fuimos estaba el Catedral Metropolitana. Era muy interesante para mí. Estudié ambas la música barroca y neoclásica en la escuela. Me gustaba ver el arte que influyeron la música. Pedro se aburrió del catedral. Entonces, decidimos ir a un club.
