My dictionary has both refigerador as a "B" listing and refegeradora listed separately. Now the reason I am responing is about the use of "nevera". I used "nevera" over the Thanksgiving weekend, since it was on a vocabulary list (and discussed it with my host's): no one had ever heard the word -- of the 3 native Mexicans. But what do I know -- I am back using "refegeradora". Also "refegeradora" is fun to say.
While in Argentina, many years ago, I believe I saw,' frigorífico' and 'heladera' for 'fridge' and/or 'freezer'. Just a thought!
In any case, el refrigerador. You can also say "La (máquina) refrigeradora", but it is not common in Spain.
We also say nevera most of the time.

I tried to look this up, and the RAE seems to support la refrigerador; but I could be misinterpreting the information.http://buscon.rae.es/draeI/SrvltConsulta'TIPO_BUS=3&LEMA=refrig...Of course, you might want to let the female be right -- as we say in Missouri, ha ha.Personally, I get confused about whether it is ventilador or ventiladora, aspirador or aspiradora, ordenador or computadora''''?
I agree. I've also heard "computador" and "computadora."
