For teachers working with ELL students
Hi all,
I'd like to start a discussion for teachers who work with English language learners, predominantly Hispanic, and who would like to exchange challenges in communicating with students and parents, especially regarding conduct in class and conferences, etc.

A major challenge, at least for me, is how to explain a Spanish speaking native how random the English spelling is. The fact that a written word gives you no clue about its pronunciation is a shocking fact for someone who is used to a rather regular spelling system.
I've never met a greater (and more frustrating) challenge in my life.
