What kind of plant is a flor de pascua?

If someone from Northern Spain refers to a flor de pascua, could anyone tell me what kind of plant they are refering to? I can think of two possibilities the first is the garden plant we call the pasque flower (pulsitila vulgaris) in England and the second and more likely is one of the many easter flowering ,cacti related houseplants that grow in trees in the rainforests of South and Central America.

In Mexico the flowers that you showed (poinsettias) are called Buena Noche.

I think you mean "flor de la Nochebuena," which is literally "Christmas Eve flower." I have seen them sold here in California as "flor de Navidad."

Hi Heidita, thanks for the photo. The plants in question are called poinsettias here in England but the interesting thing is here, most of them are sold just before Christmas not Easter. The growers are able to make the top leaves (bracts) change colour at any time of year by depriving them of daylight. At least you have saved me from sending my penfriend an irrelevant article on South American forest cacti.
There are two way to refer to Christmas: "Navidad" and "Pascuas". The people who use "Pascuas" distinguish it from Easter by saying "Pascuas floridas" for the latter.
