So which version is best to say I know you want to be free (as in free to do whatever you want, no commitments, date whoever you want etc.) ?

Yo sé que quieres ser libre. Or Yo sé que quieres ser vagar.

I think the meaning is closer to "I know you want to wander." That is, the woman wants to go out with other guys, not be faithful to just one. Vagar is related to vagabundo, but seems to be used rather metaphorically here.

libre is freedom or free to do

gratis is free, at no cost

vagar is to be bumming
vago is bumb
