Quiero digo "want to hear something random'", pero no se. Digo "quieres oir algo azar'" O uso on otro cosa que azar?

Actually, I think I've heard teenagers talk like this, when they mean something like "This has nothing to do with the previous subject, but would you like to hear a joke'" (Using "random" like this is more slang than standard English.)

You could say "al azar," at random, but I doubt that it's going to be understood. You probably need to find a different way to preface your joke or whatever it is you want to tell.

yea, that's exactly what it means. to say or do something random is something unexpected that has nothing to do with anything that's been going on or talked about. Like if the conversation is about sports, and you say: "I like potatoes". Then someone can say, "well that was random" (or that came out of nowhere)..

I'm living in Spain right now and today a Spanish guy (that has lived in the US for a year) told me that you can't say that in Spanish cause it makes no sense. It's just not a frase they use I guess.
