Meaning of "Rayando el Sol"

I'm learning a song by Mana called Rayando el Sol, and I'm not sure what "rayando" means exactly in this context. I think it's the gerund form of "rayar" but I'm not sure what it means in the song. Is it metaphorical? Anybody familiar with the song'

si, es correcto lo que piensas es el gerundio del verbo rayar, y la frase es una metafora

Rayando is often used like "barely getting there"-- on time, for instance. Of course it also does mean "to draw a line." Either way, the idea of the song is that it is even easier to get close to the sun than to the lover's heart. A bit of poetic license.

"Scratching" is obviously a meaningless translation. Why would one try to "scratch" the sun'

Thanks Eddy. Another meaning of rayar that I saw was "to become" or "to touch" metaphorically. I guess I get the gist of it.

rayar: estar cerca

Rayando el sol, oeooo desesperación...
es más fácil llegar al sol que a tu
corazón oooo me muero por ti oeooo

It's easier to get to the sun/to be near the sun..then get close to your heart.

The only thing I can think of is "scratching the sun" which doesn't make sense. Can this mean reaching for the sun? By the way, rayando is the gerund from one of the meanings of the verb rayar - to scratch.

This could also mean "bordering the sun" which is another meaning of rayar but this is normally accompanied by the preposition "con"
