How to say "I don't understand much yet"
I will be visiting a Spanish speaking group with friends. Two are Guatamalan, one is American who speaks Spanish quite well. I am the only one who is just learning. I want to make sure that what I do say I am saying correctly and also politely.
I can say and read a lot more Spanish than I can understand.
I would like to be able to say...
I am learning Spanish, but I can't understand much yet.
Estoy aprendiendo Español, pero no entiendo mucho todávia.
Is this correct? Is there a better or more polite way of saying it'

Estoy aprendiendo español, pero no entiendo mucho todavía.
The sentence is perfect; you just need to write "español" in lower cases (this rule is different from the English one). Another sentence you'll find useful, and you should use often is:
(Perdón) ¿Podría repetirlo más despacio, (por favor)?
Excuseme / sorry. Could you say that again slower (please)?
Most people will gladly repeat it for you as often as you need.
Thank you both. I feel better knowing that at least I am prepared for the first thing that I am sure I will have to say! I hope I will be able to understand some of what is said to me.
Todavía no entiendo mucho.
or
Aún no entiendo mucho
Elle,
Yes that is correct.
Take advantage of the situation by practicing with the group. They will understand that you are learning and help you. Have fun and don't be afraid of making mistakes. That's part of the process!
