I'm looking for some good terms of affection that you can use for a guy... I don't get the feeling that chulo has the same ring as chula

I am from CentralAmerica, And have lived in Mexico, You don't want to call your boy friend or husband chulo, it actually means pretty in the male form, chula ,of course is the female, this term if it is say to a male could be considered a form of derision-making fun of him- My first wife ( from Mexico, may she rest in peace ) called me "chulo" when she was angry because, I came in late or didi not do the chores she wanted me to do. Here is an example of how to use this word,

Wife-, why are you so late
husband - I stopped at a tavern for a drink

wife - !que chulo !, verdad,? I worked all day and came here to prepare your dinner

at any rate, you could called a car or a dog or any inanimate object chulo , that is ok

terms of endearment, guapo, galan, simpatico, querido ( loved one, or dear).
mi corazon( My hearth), mi rey (my king )papito, papucho, papa ( all of these meaning father)

Disclaimer , sorry for all the spelling mistakes, and lack of accents, actually, Iam in a hurry. thanks
