No Hay Color

I saw this phrase in a Spanish newspaper and I have been given to understand that it has the meaning in English of "There is no comparison" or "It doesn't compare". Do other Spanish speaking countries have the same saying.

No hay color. wink

I think it is a fairly standard Spanish phrase, since it is in the dictionary, but let's see what others say.

:

no haber color. 1. expr. No admitir comparación algo con otra cosa que es mucho mejor. Real Academia Española © Todos los derechos reservados

My "Diccionario práctico del estudiante", theoretically written with Latin American students in mind, has the expression too. This dictionary says in the introduction:

Todas las voces y acepciones se cotejaron para asegurar su actualidad, desechando los usos anticuados o exclusivamente peninsulares. El Diccionario ofrece una selección de los americanismos más usuales y extendidos, todos ellos consultados con las Academias de la Lengua americanas.
