Pija

Question

So...I studied in Madrid a few years back, and this word meant 'snob.' In Latin America, it means something much more vulgar. Does 'pija' still mean 'snob' in Spain, or was I completely misguided'

I also studied in Madrid and I was also taught pija meant snob. I have no idea what it means in Latin America.

The word I know for snob is "pije"... in Chile is used to refer to a well-dressed man with a snob accent...
Be careful with "pija" in Latin America, though in Brazil ( they speak portugues) is synonyim for "cachaca" (alcohol from sugar cane for "caipirinha"), in several countries is another vulgar name for penis.
