I've used and heard the word "corcho" dozens of thousands of times in my life in Spain. Apart from the bottle cork, the (cork) bark of the trees is also called "corcho", and also, informally, the styrofoam (or expanded polystyrene = poliestireno expandido).

I was hoping that one of these sites would mention the spanish word for cork, but no such luck,
