I am trying to understand why it is "toques". Since don't touch me looks like a command, I would think that it should be said in the imperative. I 've checked 2 conjugators, and found toques as the tu form , subjunctive. ¿por que no es imperativo? I know I'm out of my depth here, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can, using whatever I come across. Gracias

don't touch me = no me toques you can't touch me = no puedes tocarme

= no me puedes tocar.

saludos!

It is the imperative. Negative commands are expressed by using the present tense of the subjunctive. Hence, "hablame" (familiar, positive command) and "no me hables" (familiar negative command).

"no me toces" tos means cough, tosés is the plural of cough
no me toques means dont touch me

"you can't touch me" is ,no puedes tocarme

no puedes me tocar you can also say this, no me puedes tocar.. actually this sentence is better is the way most people would say it . no puedes tocarme
i think is only use in Central America
note, you are on your own when dialing with the accents
