brackets in a poem
Here is the poem from El leon, la bruja, y el ropero.
El mal se trocará en bien, cuando Aslan
[aparezca.
Ante el sonido de su rugido, las penas
[desparecerán.
etc.
Why are there brackets in there? Do they mean anything'

Well, there you go.
Then, the reason the bracket wasn't used in the sites I found on the Net is that the last word fit on the same line.
Sorry for the misleading info.

They are used in poetry when a sentence doesn't fit on one line. The part with the bracket must be right-aligned, though.
It was right-aligned in the book. I tried to type it that way here, but it didn't "stick".
The open square bracket is used in only in poems when a sentence doesn't fit on one line. The part with the bracket must be right-aligned, though.
Thanks, I just wasn't sure.
I'm pretty sure this is just some kind of editing artifact or type-setting error. I found this Spanish elsewhere on the Net without the brackets.
