Para entender mejor su capacidad de lidiar con su ambiente... (I guess is how I would translate it, but I would need to see the full context.)

Arreglarselas is a set phrase meaning to deal with, cope with, handle, or manage. I don't think the las refers to anything in particular, but it gives me comfort to pretend that it replaces "las cosas."
