Hi Lazarus
There were two questions. Not very clear I must admit.

The second wasn't really a question. After posting the title I could of put something like 'How would one say that'' but thought to put a variation of the question instead.
I think the forum title though does invite people to use it just as a dictionary (spanishdict) which is why you get enquiries such as:
Title: omelette
Q: tell me

I agree with James: "poner" is not properly used there, but you can use "quedar", although it wouldn't be my personal choice.

Thanks everyone. I did have a construction in mind
involving 'yo mismo' but I guess I was off-road there, so to speak.

Hi Tad I think your title would be "Pues, Yo, por mi parte, me pongo impresionado totalmente".

And for your description "Y yo, por mi parte, no me pongo impresionado".

James, corrections please and no, this is not meant to be sarcastic. hehehe

Hi, Eddy.
I'm not positive, but I don't think you can use poner here. Poner, to me, is a more active verb, implying action on the part of the subject. Here, it seems more passive, as the subject is being impressed by something. In addition to what others have said, you could say "me quedo totalmente impresionado." Or, it might sound more natural to say "me quedo reimpresionado." But then, I'm not a native speaker, as you know...
