How do I say '''S/he is at work'', as in physically present (està) at work? Not working, or works at so'n'so.
The context being every time someone comes knocking on our door asking for my husband and I need to tell them where he is. Thank you!

Gus said:

el esta trabajando- he is working el esta en la oficina - he's at the office

I would say the following se fue a trabajar, but if you need give more detail

el esta en la oficina - he's at the office

el esta en la tienda- he is at the store

el esta, plus wherever he is

el esta detras de la casa he is in the rear of the house

Gus, all those "el" should have been written as "ÿl", with the accent, otherwise they'd mean "the". Also, they must be omitted unless they are absolutely necessary.

And remember that in Spanish, if someone asked you were is your husband, you wouldn't say "he" or "she", as it is clear who you are talking about:

Está en el trabajo.
