"tres marias"

I may have heard this wrong, but I think this was the phrase I heard on a telenovela. The context is a woman was speaking on the phone to a man. This would be the "bad" woman of the telenovela, talking to the "bad" man. She wants to do something bad to another woman, and I think she said to the man to have the "tres marias" ready. Maybe some kind of pill? Cuz after that she also said something about "debajo de la lengua," but I was so thrown by the "tres marias" I missed exactly what she said next.

Any ideas'

Haven't I heard of a dessert called tres marias? Not sure how that would fit in the context.... (my extra-feeble contribution) smile

Yep. Three scoops of ice cream; vanilla, chocolate and strawberry plus some toppings (at least in Guadalajara, Mex.)

My first thought was similar to Eddy's, but now I don't think that's right. Las Tres Marías is the name of countless towns and businesses, but also seems to be used to refer in general to things that come in threes. Of course, it comes from the Bible, which includes three Marías: la Virgen, María Magdalena, y María, la hermana de Marta.

It's hard to say from your context, but she may have been disparagingly referring to three people known to them both.

Anyway, that's my feeble guess until someone comes along and blows it away with real knowledge.

This wouldn't be something like having the three hail mary's ready as in some sort of prayer. Just a thought.
