"Dick and Jane" type books
Alguien me puede guiar a unos libros para lectores emergentes en castellano? Vivo en los EEUU, pero deseo que mi hija aprenda primero leer en castellano. 'Alguien sabe donde los podria conseguir?
Gracias,

Valerie,
Thank you for the list of titles When I want to the site you gave me, I don't know if they were only selling class sets or what, but most of the kids' books seemed to be $25, which is pretty steep for a children's book, let alone a basic primer, and they were charging $90 for vocabulary cards!
Am I missing something?
Thanks so much for your help

This is a beginning reading program in Spanish by Scott Foresman. Maybe you can just buy the student books.
Here's a list of titles from the Wright Group: http://www.wrightgroup.com/download/lit/sunshine_spanish_title_list...
Which I found on this page: <http://www.wrightgroup.com/index.php/programsummary'isbn=007603447X>
All of these are companies in the USA. Hope some of this is of use.

Gracias a todos por sus respuestas y sugerencias. Si, mi hija tiene 3 annos. No tiene que leer todavia, pero tiene el interes en aprender, y yo le quisiera proveer con la oportunidad de empezar. Si yo se que haya libros para ninnos en la biblioteca, y tomamos ventaja de eso a menudo. Pero la mayoria de los libros convienen mejor a leerlos yo a ella. Lo que buscaba era libros mas apropriados para que mi hija lea.
Muchas gracias a todos

I don´t know exactly what you mean by written in Castillian Spanish.
By "castellano" she means Spanish. Spain had many different dialects of modern Latin, and one of them, spoken in the north east of Burgos in the 10th century, in Castilla, spread to other regions and eventually became the official language in most of Spain. It wasn't until the end of the 15th and beginning of the 16th centuries when the word "español" began to be used as a synonym of "castellano".

No need to go any farther than your local mall. Stores like Barnes & Noble have all kinds of books for children written in Spanish. If you´re looking for cheap, used books try eBay. Amazon.com has both new, used and auctioned books written in Spanish.
I don´t know exactly what you mean by written in Castillian Spanish. I don´t know if that age group is going to notice the difference. I´ve read some books that were written (or should I say translated into Spanish) from popular Amercan children´s series like Junie B Jones, GooseBumps, Scooby Doo, Fear Street, Nancy Drew, et. al. You know immediately from the conversations that the characters in these books are American children and that the dialogs are translated. Is that what you´re trying to avoid? Are you looking for Spanish book by Spanish authors rather than books translated from the orignal author´s native language..
have you tried your local library ?
some libraries have books in spanish. Ask the librarian for help finding the books you want.
Yo le compraría libros normales y corrientes, en vez de esos escritos como si fueran para retrasados mentales. Consíguele El principito, Platero y yo, Alicia en el país de las maravillas, u otros clásicos que son tanto para niños como para adultos.
