Question: how to type accents etc on a laptop

Question

I'm accents and tilde challenged... in spite of changing my keyboard to mexican/american international, I still can't do it. I've got an HP laptop, less than a year old and are using windows vista basic for pc.
Is there a computer genius out there who can tell me where I'm going wrong PLEASE'

Have you tried going to your start menu> Programs> Accessories> Accessibility> On-Screen Keyboard'This shows you the layout of your keyboard. You should also be able to open your language bar from you control panel. You may be using an English keyboard, despite having changed your keyboard. In which case, you need to go to: Start> Control Panel> Regional Languages and Options> Select the Languages tab and then hit the "Details" button.Select the "Settings" tab and the bottom you should see a "preferences" option.
