Cierto que suena mucho mejor así. Gracias. No sé por qué lo escribí mal.

Huy, acabo de darme cuenta de que escribí "pronunciation" en vez de "punctuation." Como dicen, vísteme despacio porque tengo prisa.

¡Lo siento!

Tad, the lack of pronunciation sank you here. The original, properly punctuated:
+ not having heard 'de corazón as a phrase was a fateful combination wink

I like the 'heart mariachis' idea though: maybe there will be a market next Valentine's day in Mexico -I could be rich!

Tad, the lack of pronunciation sank you here. The original, properly punctuated:

Me dio mucha alegria recibir su correo y me encantó la tarjeta de compleaños. Están muy graciosos los mariachis. De corazón, muchas gracias. Me han emocionado realmente. Le contaré que para mi cumpleaños lo pasé en mi casa con mis mama, hermano, y padre, que aunque no vive conmigo, lo pasó en casa.

As you can see now, mariachis and corazón are not connected.

H's translation is very good, except for the missing mariachis, and except for the fact that graciosos here doesn't mean gracious. Probably more like fun, funny, or just great.

I'll have a go -well you wanted options!
(I think everyone here knows I'm learning too, so this is homework for me -and I don't usually get gold stars).

I was really happy to get your letter and the birthday card -the 'heart' mariachis were really funny -they really moved me.
For my birthday I spent the day at home with my mother, brother and my father (even though he doesn't live with me, he spent the day here)

So the original should be something like:
Me dió mucha alegria recibir su correo, y me encanto la tarjeta de compleaños, estan muy graciosos los 'mariachis de corazon'. Muchas gracias, me han emocionado realmente. Le contaré que, para mi cumpleaños, lo pasé en mi casa con mis mama, hermano y mi padre, que aunque no vive conmigo, lo pasó en casa.

I'm assuming the 'heart' mariachis were on the card you sent -singing hearts or something'

Debbie, if you have a doubt about one translation, please ask in the same discussion, don't open a new one.
The problem was the punctuation, very true. the mariachis were missed because of this.

This letter could be a little better written, but I'll give it a try. Someone else may have a better translation.

I was glad to receive your letter, and I appreciate the birthday card. They were very gracious. Many thanks. I'm really moved. I will tell you about my birthday. I spent my birthday with my mom, brother and my father, who, even though he doesn't live with me, spent the time in the house.

Proper punctuation would make this a whole lot easier (we would know where one sentence ended and the next started). Also accents or tildes can change the meaning of words. Please try to include them (paso means "I pass" or "I spend" . Pasó means "he passed" or "he spent.").

It seems like I've seen this text before. Are we helping you with a homework assignment?

Receiving your letter made me really happy and I loved the birthday card. The mariachis are really funny. I am really grateful. I am really excited. Let me tell you that, in my birthday, I spent the day at home with my mother, brother and my father even though he doesn't live there.
