Llegar might work if the context is riding the metro or something (although I would in that case say "To get here"), but if it is talking about going to the movies, etc., llegar wouldn't work.

But I agree with you about the homework, so I won't offer any more suggestions.

This looks like homework. In future, give it a try yourself and someone will correct it. I would say it translates as, "Para llegar aquí, tuve que pagar seis dólares".
