This spelling is a variant of the more standard spelling of hegira in English. It comes from the Arabic word hijira.

Hi Heidita "Hejira" is the title of an album by Canadian artist Joni Mitchell. I also found the word in an english novel, perhaps referring to abandonment or desertion
