Translation of "pros·e·ly·tize"

Translation of "pros·e·ly·tize"

Please let me know if you can come up with a one-word translation for this verb. Nouns in Spanish are "proselito," someone who has been converted and "proselitismo," the attempt (noun, not "to attempt") to convert. In Argentina the Spanish terms are more often used in politics then in religion. "Evangelizar" is close, but not quite what I am looking for.

Thank you

Would convertir fit the context? What about ganar'
