I looked up "chiropractor," and the first two answers given were "quiromante." So I used that word in a message to a Mexican friend, who in response told me that a quiromante is a magician who does black magic. I think I'll go back to my two dictionaries in the form of books, both of which gave me the correct answer ("quiropráctico").

Quiropráctico, ca.

Masculine or femenine, medic professional in quiropráctica.

Treatment of some woes of bones or brawns trought manipulation of affected area.

Quiromante (m or f). Practitioner of Quiromancia. (palmistry)
Science or practice of foretelling the future through supernatural means, that bases its predictions in the reading of the lineas of the hand.

Hehe. Dictionaries can be dangerous. Caveat lector!

Actually, a quiromante is a palmist or palm reader, not a magician. But my doctor friends don't have very high opinions of chiropractors, so maybe there is some relation...
