I'm wondering what the word "haya'' means in spanish....I watch a soap opera on Television Mundo with spanish captions on so I can read the words as they are said....I can't find the meaning of this work though....

It also means "beech", but Jame's option is the most likely one.

It is the present subjunctive of haber.

Espero que haya suficiente cerveza en la fiesta esta noche =
I hope there is enough beer at the party tonight.

And with that, I'm off for the weekend! See you all next week...
