Translation of the word volvi, from Columbian Spanish

Question

I am interested in the meaning of the word volvi, in this context: Yo volvi y di una copia adicional de mi articulo,,,

I found the word volver, which seems to mean return, or revert, or get back, but also had render listed as a possible meaning. I think it also said that volvi was in the past tense.

If anyone could let me know what volvi seems to mean in this contex, I would appreciate it.

I went back and gave an additional copy of my article.

volví -the simple past of volver -to return, go back

it is also used for to turn and with 'a' (volver a) to do something again.
