I realize that "qué onda" is a mexicanismo, and isn't used in Spain, but I'm surprised that you didn't know it, since it is so common here. Are Mexican movies and TV programs not shown in Spain? I would have thought that the situation would be similar to that between the US and the UK. That is, while Britons speak differently from Americans, they are largely aware of Americanisms (and vice versa, to a lesser extent) because of movies and TV.
Is that not the case in Spain? Or is it just that you personally don't watch Mexican productions'
