Does anyone know of a single-word verb in Spanish which equates to "disrespect" as in "he disrespected the law"? Or must it be "ser (estar) irrespetuoso" or "mostrar una falta de respeto"'

I think the most natural way to express this in Spanish would be to use the negative of respetar.

ÿl no respetó de la ley.
ÿl no no tuvo/tenía respeto por la ley.

Using "disrespect" as a verb isn't that common in formal English writing, and we would usually use another word. Its use has become very popular in the spoken language in recent years, though.

I found desacato and menosprecio as nouns

The verb menospreciar = scorn, disdain
