Sofía se despierta y se entrega a Juan

Sofía se despierta y se entrega a Juan, ellos se asustan al ver que hay alguién detrás de la puerta.

I'm puzzled at the meaning of entrega in this sentence. It seems like it should be
Sofía wakes up and finds Juan or sees Juan & I can't find that entregar means either of these things.

I used the online dictionaries, Word Reference, Collins, Merriam-Webster.
All the meanings were there, I just couldn't make the connection.

I haven't bought my new dictionary yet.

What dictionary are you using? There are at least 11 meanings for this verb, 6 of which only can be used with this "se" (se entrega).
