Contemporary mexican authors

Question

Whilst learning to speak spanish and about Mexican culture (and cuisine!) I have a question; What contemporary Mexican authors and books do you recommend and why? But they need to be ones that have been translated into English I am not yet up for the challenge of reading books in spanish.... I have tried in vain to find some on the web so I'm asking you nice people instead.

Hola guapa: Octavio Paz debe ser el más famoso , pero no está para hacerle un feo este:

Diplomático, activista político y académico, Carlos Fuentes es uno de los escritores mexicanos más prolíficos. Su obra le ha valido diversos reconocimientos internacionales, entre los que destaca el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras de 1994. Fuentes nació en Panamá el 11 de noviembre de 1928.
