Thanks SpanishDict.com!
Hola a todos: (Hello everybody)
Esto es sólo mi manera de decir adiós a SpanishDict.com. (This is just my way of saying goodbye to SpanishDict.com.)
Over the years this site was like the morning paper: it was part of my world on a more or less daily basis. On a typical day I would check out the forum, especially the games, to start my day. I'll miss that dearly. But unlike the morning paper I was able to participate and develop connections with others. And while I know there were limits, I felt enough freedom to express myself. That was really special.
Thanks to all the moderators, and all the participants who made this forum possible. The thing I will remember the most is the tremendous amount of creativity that everyone brought to the table. This site had the brightest and most beautiful minds you'll find on this planet.
I know I've had my ups and downs on SpanishDict.com, sometimes getting emotional about things that really mattered to me. But I love everyone on the forum and while it's hard to say under these circumstances I am grateful to SD administrators for having this forum in the first place.
Mis mejores deseos para todos ustedes. (My best wishes to you all.)

That's a beautiful image Sassette! Thank you. ![]()
Aw, Jeeze, I'm getting teary eyed AND nostalgic even before the sun sets on the 17th. You're right on the money, Sassette. I came here in 2008 and it was a daily thing to visit and learn and meet the damnedest people.
Dare I say that it's like Walter Cronkite retiring all over again?
Shocking news to hear SD is going away.
This has always been a good resource, too bad it's coming to an end.
I'd like to say thanks to each and everyone of you for your contributions and your help, especially the moderators who donated their time.
If anyone wants to keep in touch let's trade contact info via PM.
The learning Spanish community is a small world, I'm sure I'd run into some of you in other places.
Suerte!!!
Excellent post Sass!
I want to say to everybody reading this ................
This does not have to be the end. We have a ready made home up and running and many of us are over there. It's called Spanishelp. Guillermo has provided a link in his thread.
Come and join us --------- everybody!!!! Come and join us.
I don't blame SD, as such, they have made a business decision, and had every right to make it. However, what can't be accounted for in dollars and pounds is the human emotion and attachment.
Many of us have made life long friends here. I chat (via whataspp and skype) to people in all four corners of the planet. It's fantastic - I love it.
SD was our common home - our shelter - our place to put our feet up and practise together. This home has now gone -- it's a shame, but a fact also.
Soooooooooooooo, we move house - simple ![]()
There is a beautiful cup of English tea and slice of cake waiting over on Spanishelp for anybody coming to join us! Come on!
Thank you Sassy . You have always been a thoughtful person
we have all enjoyed working with you , and thank you Stephanie for allowing us all to say our goodbyes.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep
*We must change and move on in order to live again.
Thanks for this post Missy. I had a ball on this site engaging with all of you guys.
I've seen many members come and go, and they were all special in their own way.
Because of you I learned that smurfs aren't so bad.
Buena suerte a todos
!
Adiós
!!!!!
SD was my "morning paper". News from all over the world.
I will miss it more than my words can say.
Let's all try to stay in touch.
If you PM me - while you still can - with your email address I will reply. Ian
This is really sad. However, they are right about the bugs. There have been many days recently when I couldn´t post.
Gracias a SD y a todos vosotros por vuestra inestimable ayuda.
Un cordial saludo y hasta la próxima.
The Q&A is the only thing that is shutting down, right? Or did I miss something somewhere?
Very well said, and I totally agree with all the good things said here.
A saying that I saw on one of those annoying chain emails years ago has stuck with me, and I use it often.
"Don't cry that it's over, smile that it happened."
