Flashcards and Windows 10, Chrome

EDIT: Okay, after several more tries, I managed to open Internet Explorer (which I hate) on my computer, so I guess we'll have to use that with the Flashcards. Sorry for the bother! * blush * Seems Windows 10 wants to make it difficult for you to use anything other than their own search engine - Edge. Grrr. I had to use the audio search to open Internet Explorer. While on IE I the typing is slower and I keep getting security pop-ups.

                                          * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Hi all! My daughter just joined here (on my PC with Windows 10) and is eager to try out the Flashcards. For the Flashcards to work it now says we must be Java enabled. Java, I guess, is now outdated and cannot be used by Windows 10, Chrome or Microsoft Edge (part of Windows 10). I tried to download Internet Explorer, but am having a difficult time finding a version to work with Windows 10.

Will the Flashcards ever be usable again for us, or is there a tricky way to bypass this so we can use the Flashcards, short of buying a new computer (not an option here - I just got this PC less than a year ago)? Any suggestions, or am I just outta luck?

I searched previous Q&A, but didn't find anything specifically for this problem.

Hi Findy,

I'm really sorry you had troubles accessing the flashcards! If you would like to use them on Chrome or Edge on your computer, I would recommend checking in the settings of those browsers to see if Flash is currently enabled. The browsers might currently be set up to default away from using Flash.

Here's how to check on that for Chrome: https://support.digication.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003963468-Enabling-Flash-for-Google-Chrome-Windows-Macintosh-

If you just want to enable Flash for SpanishDict (and no other sites), you can follow those instructions all the way through and just put spanishdict.com in the exceptions section instead of digication.com.

And here's how to check in Edge: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-10-edge.html

If you have any further questions or problems, please click the Feedback link on the right side of the screen to send us an email.

Thank you! Stephanie

I wonder, will the Flashcards still be working after the Forum shuts down? Will we still be able to take lessons? - Findy, Oct 14, 2017

I hope you get an answer. I haven't tried flashcards yet and was going to try when winter arrives, but the forum will be no more by then.

I have windows 10 but never use internet explorer.

These two links were previously discussed before.

I'm not a Windows 10 user, but the Answers sections in the Q&A will close. Everything else will remain intact.
