A thread made me realize the expression de encima for the first time in my life although I have always used it.

Sacar or quitar de encima could mean get rid of.

Examples:

1 Mi novio tenía otra mujer. Por suerte me lo saqué de encima.
2 Mi exvecina Julia se mudó. Por suerte nos la sacamos de encima porque era una persona sucia y gritona.
3 Quítense de encima todo lo que no es imprescindible.
4 Vamos a quitarnos de encima ese viejo auto que gasta tanto combustible.
5 Quiero salir sola con mi novia y sacarme de encima al tonto de su hermanito que siempre quiere acompañarla.

I couldn't find this expression in DRAE but maybe someone else can.

I wonder if someone can give us a sentence with this expression.
