Lo siento.
your answer: No te preocupes, no importa, no es importante
De nada means. not at all, so this is actually the answer to somebody saying : thank you

You could say Gracias Thank you
Hello Greta Michel4738,

You asked:
How should someone respond to De nada./Lo siento in spanish
How you respond to somebody saying these words varies and depends a lot on the actual context, because the English words, "I'm sorry" can be used in a variety of contexts depending on the meaning intended and these same words in English are often translated in different ways in Spanish!.
There is another way you could respond to somebody saying:" I'm sorry" if the person is sorry for having accidentally (unintentionally) done something that they should not have done. The following is an imaginary conversation that I have created to illustrate the response:
Ex 1.) Juan: "Lo siento, acabo de derramar mi bebida en tu nueva alfombra"
John: I'm sorry, I've just spilt my drink on your new carpet!"
María:¡No pasa nada, solo es agua!"
Mary: "Don't worry about it / It's not a problem, it's only water!"
A different context:
Ex 2) I'm (very) sorry (I regret) to hear that your mother has just died
Lamento (mucho) saber que tu madre acaba de morir
response: Thank you (very much) for your kind words!
¡(Muchas) Gracias por tus palabras amables!
The Spanish words: de nada (You're welcome/don't mention it /not at all!) are a response to somebody else first saying in Spanish: Gracias/Muchas gracias
I hope this helps ![]()
