Please visit the SpanishDict Community Room...messages from and for Gekkosan!!
I know that many, many of you have been quite concerned about our esteemed member Gekkosan, who had not been heard from since the hurricane hit his home in Puerto Rico. After days of nervous waiting and praying, I heard from him this morning. He asked that I let you all know the latest news. I have posted his text in the Community Room.
Even if you are a beginner in Spanish, please post greetings and well-wishes below in both English and Spanish. We will have him correct them all when he is able to come back to us!
Sea siempre tan humilde, no hay lugar como el hogar (literalmente).
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. (literally)

Hey! Begging Sassette's pardon for adding one more response to this...
Thanks everyone for your messages, and particularly to my dear friend Echoline for opening the thread, against even the stated forum rules. I'm not sure I approve of her posting that intimate picture taken within my boudoir, but I guess it's too late now to unsee it. Oh well... privacy is dead on these days of "reality shows" I guess.
I was not aware of the thread, and had not seen it, and only found it after Echo mentioned it on the Community thread, therefore the late response.
I posted an account of the experience in the Community Room; check it out if you didn't get to read it.
As I said in that post, Puerto Rico still requires a lot of aid and resources, so please donate generously to your favorite aid organization.
Thanks!!
My deepest sympathy to all those who are suffering the consequences of that horrible disaster right now.
Querido Gekkosan,
Dear Gekkosan,
I am very glad that you and your family survived more or less well the terrible hurricane.
Congratulations and I hope the hurricanes will avoid Puerto Rico in the future and the other islands as well.
I hope the effects of the terrible events will disappear of the suffering minds.
Good to know you and your family are safe. I hope the island is able to recover soon and is not hit by more hurricanes. I couldn't find a song with a Venezuelan and Peurto Rican[I checked if Fonsi had sung with Baute]
This seems the most suitable [no doubt you too have a good supply of candles]
un abrazo
We were really worried about you and your family. I'm so thankful all of you are ok. Thank you for letting us know.
Take care and be strong. I know what you are going through because I went through Katrina. We all want to help in every way we can.
Te digo Gekko lo común acá.
Aguante Puerto Rico.
Aguante y fuerza Gekko.
As we say in Spanish. Siempre que llovió paró...
Anytime it rained, it stopped raining.
Gekko, you big lizard, we were worried about you! Thank goodness you're all right! We miss that goofy face of yours. Stay safe, Gekko!
Gekko, lagarto grande, ¡estábamos preocupados por ti! ¡Gracias a Dios que estás bien! Extrañamos ese rostro bobalicón tuyo. íManténte a salvo!
Por fin tengo tiempo para saludarte. Aquí tienes un mensaje. Estoy pensando en ti y te mando un fuerte abrazo.
