Watch This Question.

A few of us were involved in a conversation earlier and a feature of SD came to light. We all probably should have known about it already, but the fact that none of us did suggests it is worth sharing the information. Many of you will already be aware of this feature, but this post is for those others like us who have not yet taken advantage of it.

For the sake of clarity I'll lay down some basic terminology first. A thread is something started by an original poster OP, like a question or a game. Other members can then post their responses. And we can all comment on each other's posts.

So, when an OP creates a thread they automatically watch that thread, which means they are notified by email of all new posts, and all comments made on their post. For all other SD members there is a check box under the original post that allows you to "Watch this question." Ticking the box will likewise keep you notified of all new answers on that thread, and all new comments made on your posts within that thread.

The advantage of doing this is twofold. Firstly, you will know when new posts are made. This can provide additional answers to questions you are interested in, and will let you know when others have participated in the games and challenges that you have (keeping in mind that some of us see the daily game threads a lot later than others smile)

The second, and probably more important, advantage is that you will know when someone comments on your posts within the thread. With our fantastic team of correctors it would be a shame to miss out on the valuable help they are giving, but it can easily be done if you don't go back and check. When watching the thread you will be notified of these comments and never miss one again.

So, my suggestion is whenever you see a question you are interested in, or post an answer on the games and challenges, click the "Watch this question" box so you can keep up to date.

Special thanks to Billy for stressing the importance of this, and Heidi for testing the system. This SD Smiley is for you guys. It may be the last one.

I've known about this, but that's because I'm so inquisitive. lol The thing to be aware of is that the notiication goes to your email address and can fill up your email box fast. Thanks for posting, very useful. :) - rac1, Sep 9, 2017
Maybe you could get Heidi or someone to add the Spanish for those that don't speak English yet. :) - rac1, Sep 9, 2017
Good post mate. I wish I could explain things as clearly as you do. - billygoat, Sep 9, 2017
Good point Amber. I'm used to hundreds of emails a day through work, but others may find the influx annoying. - jellonz, Sep 9, 2017
And yes, for sure, if Heidi or anyone else would like to do a Spanish version please feel free to edit it in. I'd try myself but it would be so bad they'd have to correct it all anyway :) - jellonz, Sep 9, 2017

I knew about this, but in the last few months I haven't received email notifications about personal messages or answers to questions.

I think I have previously received notifications of answers, but I had posted very few questions, but until now few months ago I definitely received notification of PMs I'm not sure why they stopped.

I don't know either, why don't you send this to feedback, mardle, that would be of great help, thanks - 006595c6, Sep 9, 2017
by the way, look at your post on áureo, I made some adjustments - 006595c6, Sep 9, 2017
I've just looked. I know aun and aún are different not sure why I forgot accent when I altered it. I see tristemente has been altered that is autocorrect on my tablet which drives me mad. - Mardle, Sep 9, 2017
This happened to me elsewhere once Mardle. I contacted the admins and they reset my email address but it didn't work. In the end I found out that it was my email provider's server that was blocking the emails. Try your provider if SD Admin can't fix it. - jellonz, Sep 9, 2017

Look, this is what it says just below jello's post.

You need to tick the box to enable the system to send you new posts on the thread you are watching.

If you post an answer there, try it out on this thread, for example, you will see that you not only get notifications on new answers, but even comments on your own post.

I have been here forever and I didn't know about this very useful tool, so we thought it was an excellent idea to mention this.

Thanks jello for creating such a clear thread smile

A special thanks :

Not the last Special Vote then Heidi. Estoy muy feliz! The consensus in the other thread may have been that they were an unnecessary addition ... but I still enjoy getting them :) Muchas gracias amiga. - jellonz, Sep 9, 2017
