I am trying to say "I lived in Korea for five years" According to this website, in Spanish the sentence would be, "Vivir en Corea para cinco anos," is it right?

No- the verb needs to conjugated as the only verb in the sentence, para is wrong.

I get:

Viví en Corea durante cinco años

From the translator, which is acceptable:

I would put:

Viví en Corea cinco años.

or

Viví cinco años en Corea.

Para with time frames is generally going to refer to a deadline, and makes no sense here.

Por is a time period you go through, but not favored in Spain (it is okay in Latin America- at least to my knowledge).

Durante is the best choice if you have to use a word- it will be accepted everywhere. But most natural is not to use a word, as I did.

Even in English we can say:

I lived five years in Korea.

I am a fellow learner. Await other comments.

Tú también puedes usar el verbo ´´llevar´´ y el presente participio para decir eso. ´´Llevo cinco años viviendo en Corea´´ sería una manera mejor de expresarte.

Hi sam, this answer is not correct, if you use llevo + gerundio sigues haciendo lo que estás describiendo. En este caso la persona ya no vive en Corea

This is not correct, feliz. And in Spain it sounds odd because you are not using durante

Even though I can see that you are "infected" by our constant use of present perfect instead of past simple....here past is mandatory, otherwise we would think you are still living there.

Estuve viviendo en Corea durante 5 años

If you (have) lived in Korea for 5 years and you are no longer living there you could say:

He vivido en Corea 5 años = I have lived in Korea (fot) 5 years

If you have been living in Korea for 5 years but are no longer living there you could say:

Con correcciones:

Estuve viviendo en Corea durante 5 años = I have been living in Korea 5 years.

However, the best way to express this if you have been living and if you are still living there is:

Llevo viviendo 5 años en Corea

This involves an idiomatic use of the verb llevar

I think you could also use hacer in an idiomatic way

Hace 5 años que vivo en Corea
