What's the difference between the two phrases? Or can they be used interchangeably? Thanks smile

1 El fuego está bajo control .

2 El barrio está bajo el control de las pandillas.
3 El barrio está bajo el dominio de las pandillas.

Number two and three could be almost interchangeable.

Few people would say : El fuego está bajo dominio. Probably nobody but it would be understood.

I would say that if you use something after, you might be able to use both but if it's the last word just keep it to control.

I haven't tried all the possible cases and neither do I know if there is a rule. It's just what I could feel as a native speaker.

Good luck.

I am familiar with bajo control...under control.

I am not familiar with bajo domino.

Dominar is a verb.

Dominación = domination is a noun

Dominado is a past participle, which could be used as an adjective.

Su hermano lo tiene completamente dominado.

He's completely dominated by his brother.

dominado could mean something similar to bajo control.

There is also the phrase bajo dominio

under British control = bajo dominio or control británico

I'm not a native speaker, so you may want to wait for other answers. I have not heard bajo domino and I have given you some clues to how you might use dominación, dominar as a verb and dominado as an adjective and dominio (noun). Good luck.
