Do you use the definite article in front of your own name when signing a letter? Example:

Sinceramente,

La Sra. Garcia

I did a google search for - Spanish letter formats - and found the following. You do not put an article in front of your own name.

You may find this link interesting as is addresses many other aspects of Spanish letters.

Also, keep in mind that articles do not precede other people's names when you are addressing them directly. So, even in a formal letter, you do not address the other people with a definite article. (But you often use a greeting like estimado, querido, etc. )

Given that definite articles are generally reserved for third parties (people who you are talking about, not people you are talking to) it would seem really peculiar to me if it were customary to use a definite article before your own name.

I don't think so. You would sign Juana García. Somebody else could say referring to you La señora Garcia but not you speaking about yourself
