Lauren:

As you have probably been taught, in Spanish:

Adjectives and articles (la, las, los, una, un, etc. ) must agree in number and gender with nouns.

And verbs must agree in number with nouns.

Los hombres son....

La mujer es....

This exercise is just asking you to use the given words, but to make sure that you have agreement in number and gender with adjectives and articles, and agreement in number with nouns and verbs.
