Cuando Vienes o Cuando Vengas

Question

If I was expecting conpany soon, and I wanted to ask the person visiting when they were coming, would I say

¿Cuando vienes?

Or

¿Cuando vengas?

I'm sorry if this seems like a simple question, but I was getting mixed results when looking online. If I know the person is coming sometime in the future (albeit the near future) but hasn't actually completed the action then my assumption is that using the subjunctive vengas is the correct way of saying it. Yet, many people online were using vienes to say the same thing.

Cuando vengas - whenever you come

¿Cuando vengas? - (you mean) when you happen to come by?

.¿cuándo vienes? When are you coming? It is a question.

Cuando vienes de Madrid siempre me traes churros. When you come from Madrid. You allways bring me churros. It is not a question and the verb is in indicative mode because it is a fact that happens allways you come from Madrid.

Cuando vengas de tu viaje de negocios, llamame. When you come from your busines tryp , call me.

It is not a question and the verb is in sudjuntive mode because you are ussing "cuando" to express a future action

¿Cuándo vengas? this question does not exist in Spanish.

Maybe in a situation like this:

• Cuando vaya por allá te devuelvo el dinero que me prestaste.

• ¿Cuándo vengas? ¡Más te vale que sea ahora mismo!

This is what you asked, welcome to the forum.

"cuándo" when used in a question needs an accent.

¿Cuándo vengas? this question does not exist in Spanish.

But, and that's my point, "¿cuando vengas?", without accent, is possible. See my example in one of the comments above. - Gekkosan, Aug 22, 2017

If it's a question it will be "¿Cuándo vienes?

If it is a statement there are two possibilities.

(1) If speaking of an occurring event, like "When you get here we always have a party"

Cuando vienes siempre damos una fiesta.

(2) If the event has not happened then you use the subjunctive.

"When you come we will have a party." Cuando vengas daremos una fiesta.
