El tango de los tangos. "La Cumparsita"
In the thread of the -erías, Mardle mentioned confitería and sent an old picture of a certain confitería called La Giralda. This "confitería has been torn down but it reminded me of its celebrity because it was there that Gerardo Mattos Rodríguez first played his famous La Cumparsita in 1917.
"La Cumparsita" is considered " el tango de los tangos" or "el himno de los tangos". People say that even if it is so old many people around the world still remember its music although they don't know its name etc.

This version is a little classical. Nowadays there are more modern arrangements.
Does it ring a bell?

Es la última canción que tocan en todas las milongas aquí. ¡A mí me encanta! Aquí son unos amigos míos bailándola. Son maestros de Argentina que vienen a los EE.UU. para enseñar el tango.
