Welcome to La Palabra Del Día

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speakers suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Cuando era enfermera de cuidado intensivo, cada día era un día muy ajetreado. De hecho, muchos días no teníamos tiempo suficiente para usar el baño.

When I was an ICU nurse, every day was a very busy day. In fact, many days we did not have any time to go to the bathroom!

Puede ser un choque for alguien terminar trabajando porque antes de que jubilarse, siempre estuviera ajetreado, y ahora no hay nada para hacer. Por eso, muchos jubilados buscan pasatiempos y clubs para llenar el tiempo y estar ajetreado otra vez.

It can be a shock for someone to finish working because before they retired they were always busy and now there is nothing to do. Because of this many retirees look for hobbies and clubs to fill the time and to be busy again.

No me gustan los lugares ajetreados, y por eso suelo llevarle a mi esposa a restaurantes a las tres o a las cuatro, y un beneficio adicional de esto es que a veces podemos conseguir los precios de la hora feliz a veces tenemos precios de "Happy hour".

I don’t like bustling places, and so I am in the habit of taking my wife to restaurants at three or four, and an additional benefit of this is that sometimes we can get happy hour prices.
